Linda Duffy
Linda Duffy retired after teaching in the Columbia Schools for 33 years. During this time, she served as Grade Level Chairperson for 12 years and received several local and state grants for the district. Linda served on numerous committees such as the North Central Evaluation Visiting Team and the Career Ladder Advisory Board. She also participated in writing teams to develop curriculum for the district in the areas of math, health, language arts, economics and science. Duffy stated, "I have always believed if you want something better for our children and community, you have to be actively involved."
During Duffy's tenure, she received several honorary awards. The Columbia Community Teachers Association presented her with the Teacher of the Year award. She also received the Ray Lewis Elementary Educator award as well as Who's Who in Education. Upon retiring, Linda served as Vice President of the Children's Hospital Advisory Board. Duffy also co-wrote a 21st Century Curriculum Model to provide districts with a "frame" using the Show-Me Standards.
Duffy is currently serving on the Columbia Public Schools Foundation Board and MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) Advisory Board. She is a member of Assistance League of Mid-Missouri and Margaret Hart Kings Daughters.
Duffy holds both a bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Missouri, Columbia. She is a member of both Pi Lambda Theta and Delta Kappa Gamma. She and her husband, David, are members of the Jefferson Club. A native of Chillicothe, Missouri, Linda and her husband live in Columbia, Missouri. They are owners of Loveall RV'S.
